Hi Team,
Customer would like to design the ethernet solutions.
Could you please help recommend the corresponding solution for the following design requirement?
the VDD power is 3.3V.

1. Will retimer or redriver be better for this design?
2. What is the 1lane solution we recommended? The chip is between an 10G PHY inphi CS4227 and Daughter Board with 10G 1x1 SFP+ Cage including Board to Board conn.IS DS125BR401 ok for this application?
3. What is the 4 lane chip solution we recommended? the chip is between an 10G MAC BCM56172 to 2x2 SFP+ Cage. IS DS125BR401 ok for this application?

Hi SHH,

For SFP+ applications which need to meet a host eye mask I prefer to use retimers like the DS110DF111 (1x1lane) or DS111DF410 (4-channel) to give more flexibility with placement and jitter control.

If we need support 10G-SR/10G-LR/10G-CR application
which part is suitable to use ?

Hi Frank,

Both of the devices are applicable. For applications which need to hit a specific eye mask at the edge of the system the DS110DF410 tends to be preferred.

But both of devices support Link Train (IEEE CL72)?

Because of some concern from Broadcom side

==> Otherwise you may have interoperability problems when you use DAC connected to IEEE standard link partners.

Hi Frank,

The DS110DF410 will not support IEEE CL72. It will break the link equalization training connection between the 10G-KR systems.

The DS125BR401A or DS125BR820 can pass the analog information as a linear equalizer.
