TCA9509 thermal pad connection

My device is a TCA9509 and in the terminal function table (Datasheet, page 3) is the Thermal Pad not described. Does the statement still apply?

    Hello Hubert,

    The pad is not electrically connected.  This part will not dissipate a lot of heat so you can leave it not connected at all and not have a pad.  If you think you need it thermally than put the pad and connect it to ground because ground is likely to have the least thermal resistance. 

    I have put it my datasheet update log to add a description for the pad.  Thanks for brining it up.
