HD3SS3220: About VCC33 and VDD5

Part Number: HD3SS3220

Hi,

Let me ask about HD3SS3220 power supply.
Customer is considering a power supply method of HD3SS3220.
I got two questions from customers.
Could you give me your advice?

1.Does the power supply quality of VCC33 and VDD5 affect signal transmission characteristics?

2.Is there a sequence request for VCC33 and VDD5?
Please tell me about start-up / down request.

Best Regards,
Yusuke/Japan Disty

  • Hi Yusuke,

There is not a specific power-up/down sequence for the H3DSS3220. Even this device supports dead battery, thus, the sequence is not critical. On the other hand please make sure that GPIOs and I2C lanes (whether are connected to an external power supply) perform a soft reset once the device is powered-up to avoid current leakage for the pull-up, or you can toggle the ENn_CC once the device is powered-up.

  • Luis-san,

Thank you for your kind support.
I understood about the sequence by your explanation.

Could you give me your views on the following questions?
"1.Does the power supply quality of VCC33 and VDD5 affect signal transmission characteristics?"

Should customers use LDO for their power supply?
I would like to know the relationship between signal quality and quality of power supply.

  • Hi Yusuke-san,

Since is a low- consumption device, basically the power supply is not very critical as long as the voltages are stable. My suggestion is that be careful with a good layout design to avoid issues. I do not suggest a LDO for their power supply, it would be over-designed for this kind of application.
