TMDS181RGZEVM: The output of the EVB is unstable when we test 4K resolution.

Part Number: TMDS181RGZEVM

Hello,

We are testing TMDS181RGZEVM and found that the output is unstable on HDMI2.0.

Our tesing configuration is like below.

UHD Setop box -> The EVM -> UHD monitor

On this configuration we can see video is unstable. below 4K resolution seems OK.

Is there any issue which we have to care for 4K resolution on the EVM?

We are in hurry for this issue. Your prompt support will be very appreciated.

Thanks

Kenick Kim / Cowe Co,.

  • Hi Kenick,

Could you provide more details about the unstable video and the setup?

What kind of issues is the video presenting?

Does it work fine without the EVM in the middle?

What is the configuration in the EVM? GPIO or I2C mode? what is the position of the jumpers?

Could you get the EyeScan tool to share the registers values?

    Regards

  • Hi Kenick,

I see you have mad some changes from the default configuration, is the problem present when you do a reset and just select the right tx termination?
From the register you sent me
the device is in standby, page 0, 0x20[6]=1
pll is not enabled page 1, 0x00[0]=0

Did you save the register when there was an active transmission?
Could you try the EVM in GPIO mode? just set I2C_EN=L, still have access to EyeScan features.
How long are the cables you are using?
I'm still trying to open the video.

    Regards
  • Hi Moises,

I also think that the previous registers value are something wrong!. I think that I didn't click the read function on the EyeScan. Sorry for that.
I sent a new register map file by email.
The cable length is about 60 inch long. I think it is not that long and it support HDMI2.0 also.
I will send you the video again.

    Thank you for your support.
