TLK2501: Can I replace from TLK2541 to TLK2501 ?

Part Number: TLK2501
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK1501

Dear TI-er.
My customer want replace TLK2541 to TLK2501.
Can it replace ?

1. Device's Speed
    1) TLK2541 (Obsolete) : 1G to 2.6G
    2) TLK2501 (Active) : 1.5G to 2.5G
The current system is the data rate of 1.25 Gbps. Can I using TLK2501 to 1.25Gbps speed ?

2. Device's Interface
   1) Is TLK2501 support to EPON2TBI interface ?

3. Device's Co-operation
   1) The current EPON is designed to Broadcom's TK3723 device. Can TLK2501 co-operate with TK3723 ?

4. Device's Clock
    1) TLK2541 (Obsolete) : MIN 100 / MAX 130
    2) TLK2501 (Active) : MIN 75 / MAX 125
The current system is the clock of 125MHz. Can TLK2501 operate at 125MHz ?

  • Hi Kiyoung,

A1. The TLK2501 was characterized for data rates from 1.5Gbps to 2.5Gbps, hence, we couldn't guarantee that the device can operate normally out of range.

A2. The TLK1501/2501 does not support Ten-Bit-Interface (TBI) since this device accepts 16bit then convert them into 2 wide bytes for 8b/10b encoding.

A3. The TLK2501 does not meet your requirements.

A4. The TLK2501 handles a frequency of 75MHz for minimum data rate and 125MHz for maximum data rate.

Please take a look into the TLK1211RCP which supports TBI, EPON.

    I hope this helps.
