HD3SS3212: serial cap different placment

for our Starter Kit for the i.MX8X from NXP, we want to implement a USB Type-C solution:

• Standard Type-C without power delivery
• Pmax 15 W, only 5 V
• USB 3.1 Gen1 signals including USB 2.0

For this I want to use TI controller and switch: TPS25810 and HD3SS3212

There are different circuits in the two data sheets:
• Serial capacitors between host and switch OR between connector and switch?
• Connection switch to connector different (see B0 + on pin SSTXp1 or SSTXp2)?

What is the recommendation of TI?

Hi Kamal,

According the USB type-C spec, the AC capacitors should be placed between the switch and the connector due to provide more protection for ESD and water-proof issues. As well, with these caps the DC level gets rid, and this is very useful for display port. Hence, the TI recommendation is place these AC caps between HD3SS3212 and connector.

the following question has not been answered:

both datasheet shown different connection:
(see B0 + on pin SSTXp1 or SSTXp2)?

so which one are correct.

Hi Kamal,

The correct one is the TPS25810 diagram. Please let me verify with the team why in the first diagram above the AC caps are placed there.
