TPS65983: Using TPS65983 in a non-thunderbolt device

Hi,

We plan to use TPS65983 chipset for power supply and charger unit. As per what it has been mentioned in the datasheet of TPS65983 is meant only for Thunderbolt devices. However we don't plan to use Thunderbolt architecture as we don't have any data transfer requirements over USB. 

Please to let me know if TPS65983 can be used for devices without using Thunderbolt architecture. Also please let me know if we will receive support from TI, if we use TPS65983 chipset in non-thunderbolt design.

P.S. - We already have explored TPS65982, TPS65981 and TPS65986. TPS65982 has a lead time which is not feasible for us.  TPS65981 and TPS65986 don't meet our requirements.
