BQ24392: BQ24392 / Prevent detection error at slow plug-in event

Part Number: BQ24392

Hi,

As commented in 8.1.1.4 Slow Plug-in Event in datasheet, the slow plug-in event will cause of detection error, and now actually the customer is facing this problem. So please let me know if you have any solution to prevent it or re-run detection automatically by adding external circuit?

Best Regards,

Satoshi / Japan Disty

  • Satoshi-san,

As stated on section 8.1.1.4 of the datasheet, the issue happening on slow plug-in events is originated because of the mechanical design of USB connectors; the BQ24392 already has a debouncing mechanism to workaround that issue, although if the connection is being performed extremely slow (>600mS) the issue might still happen. If the accessory is connected at a normal speed, this issue shouldn't occur.

Can you please provide further details on the issue you are experiencing? (What are you connecting? What are you expecting to happen? What is happening?)
Is the issue NOT happening when quickly connecting the accessory?

Having schematics could help us to further understand your application.

    Thanks,
    Jorge
  • Hi Jorge,

    Thank you for your support.

Now the customer confirmed the issue at only slow plug-in event. As the idea from the customer to prevent this issue, they plan to add load switch or any external circuit to add delay after VBUS line is connected. I also think this may relieve the possibility of this issue. Can you give your opinion about it?

I can share the customer's schematic off-line, so please see my profile and contact me directly if you need.

    Best Regards,

    Satoshi

  • Satoshi-san,

Having an additional delay will certainly help to further reduce the possibility of the issue from occurring.
There is no problem with that implementation if this is fixes the issue they were observing.

    Jorge
