DS80PCI800: RATE pin setting to reserved

Part Number: DS80PCI800

Hi Sirs,

My question is if i setting RATE pin to reserved mode, what will happen?

Thanks!!

  • Hi Shu-Cheng,

If the RATE pin is pulled into Reserved mode, it will function as if in Gen-3 with de-emphasis enabled.

However, we have observed that this can result in slow turn-off and turn-on of the channel from auto-IDLE. In some cases, the turn-off and turn-on time may exceed the maximum active-to-idle or idle-to-active times specified by the PCIe standard. In order to prevent this situation from occurring, the RATE pin should NOT be tied high by 1kOhm to VDD. We recommend instead to leave the RATE pin floating.

    Regards,

    Michael
