TUSB546A-DCI: Output cable

Part Number: TUSB546A-DCI

HI Sir

If I use TUSB546 for TypeC connector and test can pass USB3.1 Gen1 SI test / certification

How long the output cable can support ??

For Example

This TypeC port can support output 28AWG 3m typeC cable ?

This TypeC port can support output 3m typeC cable with 10dB insertion loss @ 2.5GHz ?

Thanks

  • Hsiao,

The actual value depends on the PASS margin that the port has. Please follow the example below:

Considering a pass with an eye height of 128mV and the 28AWG cable (loss profile between 1.9dB/m and 2.1dB/m, according to the Type-C specification), we can estimate a total loss of 6dB or 50%. This results in a 60mV signal (on paper), which is the double of the minimum Differential Rx peak-to-peak voltage specification on a standard USB3.1 Gen1 receiver (30mV). This margin will give enough room for a 3dB loss on the device side (theoretically).

    Regards,
    Diego.
