TUSB542: Used without TUSB321 & TUSB322 CC Controller

Part Number: TUSB542
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB321, TUSB322, , TUSB322I

Hi USB Forum team

I know that using USB-type C block-diagram as a blow.

We don't need PD Controller & USB 2 Redriver.

Also, Can we use without CC Controller that TUSB321 & TUSB322? Because, we don't have board size and pressures cost.

What is mean DE_AP(dB), OS_AP(V), EQ_AP(dB) Table.2 on tusb542 datasheet?

Best Regards

Gerald.

  • The TUSB322I device enables USB Type-C ports with the configuration channel (CC) logic required for Type-C ecosystems. The TUSB322I device uses the CC pins to determine port attach and detach, cable orientation, role detection, and port control for Type-C current mode. The TUSB322I device can be configured as a downstream facing port (DFP), upstream facing port (UFP), or a dual role port (DRP), making the TUSB322I device ideal for any application.
TUSB322 USB Type-C Configuration Channel Logic and Port Control With VCONN Evaluation Module. The TUSB322 EVM is designed to evaluate TUSB322 devices. The EVM can be configured to operate in DFP, UFP, or DRP mode via DIP switch selection or I2C control.
    Plug and play design
Power the EVM by USB VBUS or 5- to 5.5-V DC IN through a power jack J3
Access the I2C bus through headers
    Configurable through dip Switches.
  • Hi Gerald,

The CC controller is needed since the system should be able to perform the detection of the attached device through CC pins, hence, the CC controller is mandatory for a certified final product.
Regarding DE_AP, OS_AP & EQ_AP, basically, these control signals specify the equalization of the signal integrity (De-Emphasis, Pre-Emphasis and Swing settings) to optimize the link conditions.
