TPS2546: During low temp testing, the current limit seems to be 1A but the configuration is at 2A

Hi Team,

my customer is making power banks for OEM

they've been testing the TPS2546, configuration of current limit is at 2A

it observed that

@25 degC

2A discharge no problem

@ 5 degC

2A discharge trigger current limit protection (seem to limit at 1A)

we want to check that is there other protection that triggered with the low temp?

any comments are appreciated

Hi John, what is connected to IN? Is there any other component on customer's system that could have triggered the current limit at 1A at a lower temperature? FYI, the current limit should not vary much over temp per Figure 4 in the datasheet. If overcurrent detection has been detected, the FAULT/ should be also asserted. Could you check IN, OUT, FAULT/ and EN when the issue occurs? A scope plot would be good. Please also ILIM_SEL to confirm it is driven high for ILIM_HI current limit setting.

Hi,

The current limit should not very much, please check the ILIM_HI and ILIM_LO voltage, generally, it is 400mV.
