TUSB8041: Reading the device configuration registers

I'm looking for a software to read back the device configuration registers on TUSB8041 and make sure the configuration is correct.

Can you please forward me any freeware program and such?

Hi Johan,

Unfortunately, there is no way to access the registers when the device is set up in pin configuration mode. Is there a specific setting you are interested in verifying? I may be able to suggest a method to verify it without reading back the registers.

We are setting the device configuration using pin mode, but we are also rewritting the PID and VID through a USB/I2C bridge using proprietary

software from our supplier, however this piece of software only allows us to set the PID/VID values.

So, is there any development tools/software we may utilize to read the values from register 05h and 0Ah?

No, we do not have a tool that has this ability. The only possibilities are to read back an EEPROM using the programming tool or read back registers over SMBUS using a SMBUS host.

I see, so if I understand correctly, if i wish to read the device configuration registers I need interface through SMBus?
Do you have a development tool for this?
Also is there another way to verify that the configuration is correct?

Johan,

We do not have a development tool for accessing the TUSB8041 over SMBUS. You can verify most of the device settings using the information reported by the TUSB8041 descriptors, you can see what information was reported using the usbview.exe tool available from Microsoft or the USBCV tools available from USB.org
