Hello,

we have got a new pcb with the DS90UB954-Q1 and want to check if it is working well. Is there any way to use the Analog LaunchPAD (ALP) software to configure the DS90UB954-Q1 chip (without having the corresponding eval board)?

Our setup is: DS90UB953 => coax line => DS90UB954-Q1 => MIPI-CSI2 => Lattice FPGA

Hi Jan,

Yes, you can use ALP to communicate via I2C with the DS90UB954-Q1 through the I2C pins on the DS90UB954-Q1.

ALP supports a few methods of doing this, but if you have a USB2ANY I recommend using that. If you have a USB2ANY, I suggest consulting the DS90UB954-Q1 EVM User Guide and DS90UB953-Q1 EVM User Guide as they provide additional guidance on how to use the USB2ANY and ALP.

No, I dont have an USB2ANY. And it seems not to be easy to get one.

Would it be possible to use the DS90UB953-Q1EVM board for I2C communication to the DS90UB954? Within the DS90UB953-Q1EVM user's guide I see that there is an I2C header (SCL, SDA, GND) on the board.

Hi Jan,

You would be able to use the 953EVM to communicate with the 954, but there are some registers that can only be set locally.

Since you do not have a USB2ANY, I suggest purchasing an Aardvark which also works with ALP.
