XIO2001: CLKOUT pin

Part Number: XIO2001

Hi Sirs,

Two questions on XIO2001 CLKOUT

1. If we don't use internal CLKOUT, Datasheet said need provide a PCI CLK SOURCE from CLK INPUT, could you share experience for us why need??

2. If we don't use internal CLKOUT, Our PCI DEVICE is use ourself CLK GEN, the CMD CONTRL is still need use from IC?

 Thanks!!

  • Shu-Cheng,

If you are providing an external PCI bus clock source, you simply need to:

1- Connect your external clock source to the PCI bus clock input terminal (CLK)
2.- Same external PCI clock source should be used for all the PCI bus devices connected to the XIO2001 bridge.
3.- Disable the CLKOUT terminals by writing a 0xEF to the "Clock Control Register" (PCI register offset 0xD8), since those outputs will no longer be used.

    Regards,
    Jorge
