DS90UB954-Q1: Mixing DS90UB953 and DS90UB933 sources going into DS90UB954 (and DS90UB960)

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB933-Q1, DS90UB953-Q1

Hi,

Is it correct that you cannot connect a DS90UB953 source to one input of the DS90UB954 and a DS90UB933 source to the other input?  It seems like the MODE setup has to be the same for both inputs.

Similarly, can the inputs of the DS90UB960 be mixed between DS90UB953 and DS90UB933 sources, or do they all have to be the same?  (Obviously the full datasheet for that part hasn't been released yet...)

Thanks,

Sam

  • Hi Sam,

For the DS90UB954-Q1, you are able to connect the DS90UB953-Q1 to one input and the DS90UB933-Q1 to the other. Please refer to section 7.4 of the 954 datasheet: "Each input port can be individually configured for CSI-2 or RAW modes of operation."

If you use the strap pin to configure the mode, this will set the mode for both inputs, but they can be individually by configuring them through the registers. You can use register 0x04 to select a port to write to & then use register 0x6D to configure the port.

Please see sections 7.6.68 and 7.6.101 of the 954 datasheet for more details on these registers.

You must also configure the registers on the 933 & 953 to allow the strap mode to be overwritten by the register values (register 0x03 on the 953 and register 0x05 on the 933). See the DS90UB933-Q1 and DS90UB933-Q1 datasheets for more details on this step.

    Regards,
    Zoe
