DS64MB201: SMBus Mode and Pin Mode Question

Part Number: DS64MB201

Hi, Team

My telecom customer is using DS64MB201 in their base station project.

DS64MB201 datasheet says Control Pins RATE, TXIDELDO, TXIDELSO, FANOUT, SEL0, SEL1, VOD0, VOD1 can work in Both Modes.

If ENSMB is high, can RATE, TXIDELDO, TXIDELSO, FANOUT, SEL0, SEL1, VOD0, VOD1 pins still works?

What happen if SEL0/SEL1 pins setting is different with the SMBus register setting?

Thanks

Kevin Zhang

  • Hi Kevin,

Yes, that is correct. if ENSMB is high, RATE, TXIDELDO, TXIDELSO, FANOUT, SEL0, SEL1, VOD0, and VOD1 pins will function as described in the Pin Descriptions table of the datasheet.

Regarding SEL0 and SEL1, the pin settings will control the mux inputs/outputs by default. In order for the SMBus register settings to take effect, you will need to disable SEL pin control in Reg 0x08[1]. Once you set Reg 0x08[1] = 1'b, then SEL1 and SEL0 are controllde by Reg 0x03.

    Thanks,

    Michael
