TPD3S714-Q1: with 2.1 A charging requirement?

Hello Team,

TPD3S714-Q1 have hiccup mode current limiting of 550mA. The current is clamped at 550mA and if the device continues operates in the clamping mode, the heat accumulated inside the chip will cause thermal shut down.

For system requires 2.1A charging current and data transmission, can TPS3S714-Q1 fit here?

Hi Ting,

The TPD3S714-Q1 is not an appropriate part for designs that require higher levels of charging current because as you mentioned, it will current limit to 550mA and will eventually reach thermal shutdown.

The TPD3S716-Q1 is a more appropriate part for your system needs because it allows for a current limit of up to 2.4A and will pass the 2.1A that your system requires.
