DS125BR401A: 0x28 Reduced Signal Detect Gain

Part Number: DS125BR401A

Dear Team,

Could you help to explain the meaning of the register 0x28 bit 0:1 reduced signal detect gain?

Does it means that the amplitude of signal detection signal will become lower for the power saving?

Thank you.

  • Hi Jim,

In general we are not recommending to utilize the reduced gain function in the signal detect circuit.

This setting will not save power.

This low gain setting will reduce the sensitivity and bandwidth of the signal detect circuit.  These changes can make operation at 6 Gbps and higher very sensitive to the input pattern and amount of attenuation in the channel connected to the DS125BR401A B-side inputs.

    Regards,

    Lee

  • Hi Lee,

    Thank you for the explanation.
One more question about 0x28 bit 7:6. It should be set to 0 on the spec.
But the customer found that their bit 6 is 1, and they want to know what is the impact of this bit.

    Thank you.
