Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM26C31,Hi, I want to control motor using FPGA, which needs 4 TX, 4 RX. However the IO standard of FPGA is 3.3V and motor servo control pins are RS422 standard. There are two options: (1), using 3.3V IO and AM26LV31E for 4 TX (2), using 3.3V IO and level translator, such as SN74LVT, and using 5V version of 422 drivers, such as DS26C31TM and AM26C31 versions. which option should I use ? Thanks!

Hello byliu,

I don't see any reason not to use the 3.3-V device (AM26LV31E) for this application - it would eliminate the need for a level shifter and 5-V rail while still providing an interface that meets RS-422 requirements.

thanks! i thought that may be ds26c31tm has any special features that outperform am26lv31e which stop some company to directly use this 3.3v version.
