DS90UB953-Q1: interoperating test for DS90UB953-Q1 to DS90UB954-Q1

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB954-Q1,

hi,

My customer is getting themselves ready to test the DS90UB953-Q1 to DS90UB954-Q1 link:

1. In the datasheet, using power over coax cable to implement the serial connection between 935 and 945 (DS90UB953-Q1 to DS90UB954-Q1), the circuit has been explained in the datasheet, but how long is the coax cable been tested by TI ? My cust are looking to at 5m application, can this achievable?

2. Is there any brand of coax cable recommended by TI ? or used by TI in their tests for signal integrity ? what should the bandwidth of the coax cable be … ~4.2Gbps ?

Best regards,

kpk

  • Hi KPK,

    1) It depends on the cable characteristics. We actulally spec this on the DS90UB954-Q1 in section 6.6 (AC Electrical Characteristics). If you are running at 4.2Gbps, we recommend the attenuation of the transmission channel (PCB Traces, connector, inline connections included) to be lower than 20dB.

    2) Typical cables that we use for this type of application is the Dacar 462.

    Regards,
