TUSB544: May we can evaluation how much improve in customer cable after add TUSB544?

Part Number: TUSB544

Hi Sir

We get customer Cable raw data, and customer want to know how much improve DP/USB3.1 performance if they add TUSB544 in their cable?

May we can rough to explain form datasheet? or some factors that we can't  know, so we can't provide.

Looking at the cable insertion loss at 2.7 GHz, the worst case number is sample #2 RX2, which is 13dB loss. TUSB544 downstream equalizer can handle 9.8dB loss at 2.5GHz and upstream equalizer can handle 8.7dB loss at 2.5GHz. So there is approximately 3.2dB loss for downstream and 4.3dB loss for upstream ports that can't be compensated by TUSB544. There will be additional loss coming from PCB trace, plug/connector, and via. I don't know which TX and RX will be used in this particular application, but you have to check if de-emphasis from TX and equalizer from RX can help compensating the remaining loss.

The best thing is to have a TUSB544 EVM and physically measured the electrical and functional performance.

    Thanks
