TUSB544: AC-coupling capacitors at DTX2P/DTX2N/DTX1P/DTX1N

Part Number: TUSB544

Hi Team,

Datasheet Figure 35 (page 41) shows 100nF at DTX2P/DTX2N/DTX1P/DTX1N for AC-coupling capacitors.
On the other hand TUSB544EVM shows 220nF
.
Which value do you recommend?
Are both values recommended value?

Best Regards,
Yaita / Japan disty

  • Yaita-san,

Per Type-C specification, the AC coupling capacitors capacitance ranges from 75nF to 265nF. On the other hand, 220nF is the recommended value by the Display Port Alternate mode specification.

NOTE: when you include AC caps on the RX pairs we recommend a higher value (i.e. 330nF) because these caps will be in series with the TX AC capacitance on the other side of the Type-C cable, so the total capacitance will be higher than 75nF.

    Regards,

    Diego.
