TFP410: Can the TFP410 be used as a Flat Panel to DVI/HDMI interface chip?

We are looking at designing with the AM335x, AM437x, and AM438x parts, and had some questions.

In looking at the Beaglebone Black design, it looks like a Flat Panel to HDMI translator chip is needed in order to support an HDMI interface.

Can the TI TFP410 be used with the above processors as a Flat Panel to DVI/HDMI interface chip? What processor pins would I need to use this chip? (what does the connection interface look like)?

Hello Mark ,

In order to convert from Flat Panel (LVDS) to DVI/HDMI you can use the SN75LVDS82 connected to the TFP410.

I believe there is some crossed wires here...

The heart of the question actually is how one interfaces a Sitara processor to an DVI/HDMI cable using the TFP410:

Sitara --> TFP410 --> (DVI/HDMI cable) --> TFP401A --> LCD panel

And it's the connections on the processor to the TFP410 that is the question. there does not seem to be any reference designs that spell this out.

Hello Mark,

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Unfortunately, as you mentioned, there is no reference design for this implementation. However, since the TPF410 will take the 24bit interface and just serialize it, I suggest using the following table which shows who the device maps the transmitted output data.
