DS125MB203: what's the difference between the DS100MB201 & DS125MB203? for the DS125MB203 which speed can it support?

Part Number: DS125MB203
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS100MB201

Hi team,

My customer is looking for minisas MUX, we have DS125MB203 and DS100MB201. What's the difference between them?

Which speed can the 203 support? It says 12.5G and 6G, why? If you have other suggestions, it's ok too. Thanks.

  • Hi Frank,

The DS100MB201 is an older design.  I would recommend to use the newer DS125MB203 for designs above 6 Gbps.

The DS125MB203 has some limitations with SAS3 due to a bandwidth limitation in the signal detection circuit. For this reason the datasheet limits SAS/SATA applications to SAS2 or SATA3 speeds (6 Gbps).

    Regards,

    Lee
