DS64MB201: Data Transmission Error from SIA to DOUT

Part Number: DS64MB201
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS125MB203

Hi, Team

My telecom customer is using DS64MB201 in their base station project. The DS64MB201 is used to switch the PCIe Gen-2 signal.

Customer find that the signal output from DOUT0+/- pins is different from signal input to SIA0+/- pins. There will be error in DOUT when there is continuously 0 or 1 in SIA.

Here is the signal waveform.

Pink: Signal input to SIA0+/-

Green: Signal output from DOUT0+/-

Is there any suggestion to solve the issue?

Thanks

Kevin Zhang

  • Hi Kevin,

Please add a schematic which can detail all the pin settings and a register dump if the MB201 is being programmed with the SMBus.

    Best Regards,

    Lee

  • Hi, Lee

Customer can not send out the schematic. The ENSMB pin is pull high to enable the SMBus.

Here is customer's DS64MB201 register setting. Please help to check it.

Customer has made compatible PCB design of DS64MB201 and DS125MB203. If they try to change DS64MB201 to DS125MB203 on the same baord with similar SMBus register setting, the issue is fixed. Customer data rate is below 6.4Gbps. Could you advice what difference of DS125MB203 fix the issue?

    Thanks

    Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

I would make the following register changes for the DS64MB201.

    Registers 0x18, 0x26, 0x2E, 0x35, 0x36, 0x43 = E8'h  (set DEM to -3.5 dB)

    Registers 0x17, 0x25, 0x2D, 0x34, 0x3B, 0x42 = 0F'h  (set VOD to 1000mV)

    Regards,

    Lee
