DP83867CR: Back to back repeater and low power ethernet

Part Number: DP83867CR

I would like to build a 1G repeater with a pair of DP83867 PHY chips, connected back to back. How do I configure this to work with EEE? Which interface should I use?

Thanks.

  • Hello Terry,

For DP83867CR, you can connect the RGMII RX pins of one PHY to RGMII TX pins of the other PHY for back to back operation. There are other features that you can use based on the strap options based on your requirement. However, DP83867CR does not support EEE. It does have triple supply configuration for low power consumption in active mode.

  • Hello Aniruddha

    Thank you for the reply.

We need to support EEE, as we often see Netgear switches in our links, and they usually adopt EEE.

Are there any other (similar) TI PHY ICs that do support EEE that we could use in our application?

    Regards
