TUSB544: TUSB544-EVM : In the case of USB3.1 only, does HPDIN pin need to connect to 544_VCC?

Hi team,

My customer is evaluating the TUSB544 by EVM, he checked USB 3.1 only mode at first.

But output signal did not appear. But when HPDIN connected 544_VCC, USB 3.1 signal was appeared.

I could not find that HPDIN pin need to connect VCC from EVM Usre's Guide.

When evaluating USB3.1 only, is it necessary to fix HPDIN pn?

EVM setting is below.

Intel test fixture board (SMA to Type-C) -> TUSB544-EVM -> Intel test fixture board (Type-C to SMA)

Hi Diego,

The Input Signal is 5Gbps and 800mVp-p from signal generator, there signals are connected A2 and A3. B10 and B11 are monitored by Oscilloscope.

The power of TUSB544-EVM is provided AC adapter directly.

Hello Ogasawara,

Please confirm that you have the generator on the Type-C receptacle side and the Scope on the Plug side. Also measure the voltages on the config pins, the HPDIN should not have any effect on USB mode.

I'm not clear yet.

My understanding is TUSB544 configuration is decided by SW1 on EVM, the setting was EN = H, SWAP = L, SLP_SO = H , DIR1 = L, DIR0 = L, CTL1 = L, CTL0 = H, FLIP = L. Are the setting value of these pins changed by Type-C receptacle side?

Hi Ogasawara,

The picture is not clear, Please describe on which pins of each connectors are connected the scope and generator, as well as the orientation of the fixtures on teach side of the EVM. I need that information in order to provide the appropriate configuration.
