HD3SS3220: VDD5 connection

Part Number: HD3SS3220

is it recomanded to have the VDD5 pin connected directly to VBUS from the connector (TypeC UFP Mode) or after the load switch (Current limiter)

the VCC3 in my design is coming from a PSU that is after the load switch (Current limiter) that can take up to 300ms from cable connection (VBUS) to power up

  • Hi Yosy,

If the device is going to be set in UFP mode VDD5 can be tied to VBUS. Otherwise, if the device is set in DFP mode this is not possible.

Regarding VCC33 is ok. There is not a specific power-up/down sequence. Basically the power supply is not very critical as long as the voltages are stable. My recommendation is be careful with a good layout design to avoid issues.
