TUSB212: TUSB212 increases D +/- jitter more than TUSB211.

Part Number: TUSB212
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB211

Hello E2E,

I compared TUSB211 and TUSB212 on same board and around .
I found that TUSB212 increases D +/- jitter more than TUSB211.
Please let me know the cause and solution.

The jitter performance of TUSB212 should be the same as TUSB211. Are you using the same board for the comparison and how much jitter delta are you seeing between TUSB211 and TUSB212? It would be good if you can share your test result and schematic.

Have you also tried to tune the EQ? Jitter caused by ISI could increase if the channel is not properly equalized.

    Thanks

  • Hello David,

    Thank you for your reply.

    Measured results are as follow;
    Cable Length : 5m
    TUSB211(EQ-Level 3)
    - Signal rate : 479.9635Mbps (max : 552.74Mbps / min : 407.06Mbps)
    TUSB212(EQ-Level 2)
    - Signal rate : 480.0354Mbps (max : 577.14Mbps / min : 382.86Mbps)
    On same board.(Testing board)

This is signal rate, multiple components, such as clock frequency ppm, ISI from board channel, etc would affect it, It's not just jitter. You also need to use same EQ setting when doing comparison between TUSB211 and TUSB212.

    Thanks
