TCAN1042-Q1: Support Partial Networking?

Part Number: TCAN1042-Q1

[ TCAN1042-Q1 ] Support Partial Networking?

Hi,

If customer ask whether TCAN1042-Q1 (and its derivatives) support "partial networking" mode , can we say yes?

I know that TCAN1042-Q1 has low power standby mode with remote wake feature. It seems that TCAN1042-Q1 can support some sort of partial networking mode.
On the other hand, competitor (NXP) states "CAN transceiver for partial netwroking" with a description of ISO11898-6: 2013 support.

ISO 11898-6:2013

Road vehicles -- Controller area network (CAN) -- Part 6: High-speed medium access unit with selective wake-up functionality

From the information above, as my understanding, we cannot say that TCAN1042-Q1 support partial networking, even though it supports standby with remote wakeup.

It's appreciated if you can share your ideas.
Thanks,
Ken

  • Hello Kenichiro-san,

TCAN1042-Q1 unfortunately does not support partial networking (ISO 11898-6). This requires additional logic be implemented in the transceiver in order to recognize node-specific wake-up frames. TI does not have a device supporting partial networking at this time. If you would be willing to contact me privately (via private message on the e2e forum or via my email at m-robertson at ti dot com), I would be interested to hear more about the customer need for this feature.

    Regards,
    Max
  • Hi Max,

Thank you for your reply! It's helpful for me.
I can see your contact on ESP and will share the situation later!

    Thanks,
