TUSB4041I: How to disable unused pins

Part Number: TUSB4041I

Hi,

My customer is using NEC's UPD720114 device, and the existing product is no problem at present, but we are in the process of transition to consideration of TI.

The TUSB4041I has a large PKG size and about twice as many pins as the existing products, but many pins are not used.

I need your help with the pin assignments and disabling methods for pins listed as TUSB4041I and UPD720114 pin matching and functions not found in UPD720114.

In addition, If you have any comparison data with NEC's UPD720114 product, please share it.

thanks,

TS

  • Hello Jorge,
thanks for your comparison presentation file.
Actually, we need the method to disable unused pins of TUSB4041I.
If it's impossible, please just reply that we can't.
    thanks,

  • TS,

When you say "unused pins", are you referring to unused downstream ports?
If that is the case, unused ports should be left floating and, for compliance purposes, you could specify which ports are unused through the "Port Used Configuration Register" (Register offset 0x08h, bits 0-3) as detailed on the datasheet either using an external configuration EEPROM or through an SMBus master.

Any other unused configuration terminals on the device can be left floating as well and the internal PU/PD resistor will set the configuration to the default value.

    Regards,
    Jorge
