Hi Team,

Could you tell me "nHardResetCount" value when TPS65982 acts as Sink?

In other word, How many hard reset does TPS65982 try to send in order to judge that the Source is non-responsive for PD communication?

Hi Onawa-san,

"nHardResetCount" is 2 for the TPS65982 in all cases where multiple hard reset messages are sent. This is also in the USB PD Specification.

Sorry, three more questions.
1. Are there any registers to know HardResetCount(how many hard reset occurred) in TPS65982?
2. When is the count cleared?

Hi Onawa-san,

1. There are no registers that contain the HardResetCount value. However, you could look at the PD Status Register to view the "Hard Reset Details" field. This will give you an indication as to why the Hard Reset occurred.
2. The HardResetCount will only start counting if the connected device does not respond to the Hard Reset PD message within tNoResponse (5.5s max). If the far end device does not respond to the Hard Reset within tNoResponse for the second Hard Reset message. The PD communication will stop until there is a Disconnect and reconnect.
