DS90UB960-Q1: Multi-camera synchronization

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

Hi

I want to make sth sure about the "Multi-camera synchronization" in UB964/UB960 datasheet.

As far I known, there are two meaning about the synchronization.

 1. The reference CLK of cameras were provided by the same source,
such as 960+953 scheme, which the 953 cameras' CLK could be provided by the UB960 to ensure the CLKs are same.
And ,this scheme can be used in what aspcets?

 2. The synchronization of the cameras controled  through the external IO signal.
In theory, this scheme can be supported by TI's entire system of ser/deser. Is this understanding reasonable?

So, in UB964/UB960 datasheet , what does the "Multi-camera synchronization" mean ?
