TLK1221: Device behavior when TxP/N short to GND.

My customer had a question.

If TxP/N pins are short to GND, and TLK1221 try to send signals. How does TLK1221 work?

Will it break due to high current? Or will it protect by internal protection?(then, will it auto-retry? )

Also, Could you please let me know about the Hot-plug protection feature

Hi Yusuke,

What is the purpose to connect TxP/N pins to GND? If these signals are not used, the recommendation is left unconnected since are LVPECL. Please take a look into this application report to get an overview of this kind of output stage.

Hi Luis-san,

This concern is fail-safe requirement at abnormal operation. For example, If end user will use the shorted connector. etc
Customers have to consider various possibilities so that there is no broken.
At normal operation, they use TxP and TxN.
