DS25CP104A: DS25CP104A IBIS AMI model

Part Number: DS25CP104A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS25BR120

For an analysis I'm using the DS25CP104A component, but the standard IBIS model does not support eq/pre-amphasis.

From another posting I know an IBIS AMI model is available. What can, and do, I need to do to get the concerning model?

  • Hi Arjan,

In order to share the IBIS-AMI model for this device, we will need to set up an NDA with you. Do you have a TI field contact you are working with, through whom we can arrange this?

    Regards,

    Michael
  • Hi Michael,

In the meantime I received the concerning IBIS model through a TI contact person.
I started simulations with the model, but am facing some issues now concerning the correct eye mask.
The complete topology is a very long chain of connectors, boards and cables and end the receiver there's not much signal left.
I'm running the simulations at 240Mbps not faster. Is there more information available, about the exact eye mask at that speed?

    Regards,
    Arjan
  • Hi Arjan,

When you mention "eye mask," is this the same as "eye diagram," or are you trying to superimpose an eye mask on top of your eye diagram?

If possible, I'm wondering if you could archive your project and send it to me so that we can take a look on my PC.

    Is the simulation in ADS?

    Thanks,

    Michael
  • Hi Michael,

I'm indeed more or less superimposing an eye mask on my eye diagram, to be able to validate if the eye opening is big enough for correct communication. It's hard to translate the data from datasheet to a correct eye mask (the minimum eye opening).
I think I can archive the project and let you have a look, but, I'm simulating with Mentor Graphics Hyperlynx and not ADS. So, don't know if it is accessible to you too.
Also another idea is to use the DS25BR120 within the chain to drive the signal the other way around. Is there also a IBIS-AMI model available for the DS25BR120?

    Regards,
    Arjan
  • Hi Arjan,

Our models have all been simulated with ADS, so I think I will not be able to view your archived project. However, if you have eye diagrams to share, that may be a way for us to see what is happening.

Using a DS25BR120 may help to give an extra boost to the amplitude of the signal, especially after losses from the various connectors and trace. However, note that since the DS25BR120 and DS25CP104A have only signal conditioning mechanisms to improve attenuation loss, your system may still experience the effects of impedance discontinuities (causing reflections).

Regarding IBIS-AMI models, we do not have one specifically for the DS25BR120. However, the DS25CP104A implements a similar datapath design and can be reused in place of where you wish to place the DS25BR120.

    Thanks,

    Michael
