TCA6424A: TCA6424A standby mode

I could not figure from the datasheet of the TCA6424A,how the device enters into standby mode.

I can see that after reset assertion the registers and FSMs are initialized and all ports are configured as high impedance inputs, but is it standby mode? What should be the current consumption on this state?

 The reset feature and low power is a main consideration for choosing the IO expander on this project.

    Hello Eli,

    For this device, "standby mode" is just considered to be the state where all the ports are configured as inputs, are pulled up, and no toggling is occurring on the I2C bus. In this condition, the worst-case current consumption is 3 uA.

    Can you tell me what should be the current consumption in a situation similar to the one you described,
    except the ports (configured as inputs) will be externally pulled down?
    This is our preferred “standby” way.

    Eli,

    This should be the same in terms of standby current. What would cause higher currents would be holding the input ports at an intermediate voltage between ground and VCCP.
