TS3USB3000: Load capacitance

Part Number: TS3USB3000

Dear Team,

I have some questions about load capacitance in circuit design, could you please check with internal to clarify my doubts.

  1. As shown in the below figure, the D + / D- signal line should also have a load capacitance.

Can you provide us the breakdown value of load capacitance (CLD+/-, CLUSB+/-, and CLMHL+/- )in the following four modes?

2. Could you let me know how did you get these capacitance value in above parameter table?

Thank you.

  • Hello Jim,

The TS3USB3000 load capacitance was characterized on the USB/MHL side, as you can see in the image below.

    Regards,

    Diego.

  • Hi Diego,

Because the customer showed me competitor's solution. They have the load capacitance on USB/MHL and D+/-.
So they want to know if we have this parameter on D+/- as well.

Another question about the parameter table is, compare between switch on/off on MHL side, Con= 1.6 pF is larger than Coff=1.4 pF.
But why the result is opposite to USB side? On USB side, Con=1.4 pF is smaller than C off= 1.6 pF.
Could you help to clarify it?

    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Jim
  • Each Con and Coff are measured at the corresponding pin.

Typically Con is higher than Coff as they will be more parasitic but not always. We will need to go back and check why usb side coff is higher.
