HD3SS3220: AS DFP

Hi,

I have worked already with the HD3SS3220, as a UFP. In a UFP application diagram the current advertisement is made using OUT1 / OUT2 signals of the HD3SS3220.

Once to the current advertisement is made in a DFP with the Current Mode pin, and the ADDR is left floating in order to allow GPIO mode. Shall the OUT1-OUT2-OUT3 pins left floating?

Please find attached the design page for a HD3SS3220 in DFP role, U2,U3,U4 and U5 are protections ICs.

Is the corret design for a DFP role?

Hi Juanjo,

OUT1, OUT2 & OUT3 (GPIO mode) pins are open drain output, hence these terminals must be connected to a pull-up resistor.

Can you confirm that this is even in the DFP mode and ADDR left floating?

What are the recomended pullup resistor values?

Hello Juanjo,

I've checked the schematics for DFP mode, it looks fine except for the pull-up resistors for OUT1, OUT2 & OUT3. The recommended value is 200k.
