TPS65982: Why is the lower temp limit specified as -10C?

Part Number: TPS65982
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65981

Is there a specific reason why this series of parts is specified to only -10C?

What would 'break' first at lower temperatures?

Is it practical to have these parts specially qualified to -15C or -20C?

Thanks

  • Hi Indulis,

    Welcome to E2E!
The TPS65982 was designed around requirements defined by personal electronics manufacturers. The -10 to 85C operating range is generally ok for personal electronics developers. Is your application requiring a lower operating temperature? If that is the case, you could look at the TPS65981. The TPS65981 is in a 8x8 QFN package and is certified from -40 to 85C to tend to industrial applications.

    Thank you,
    Eric
