TPS65983B: TPS65983B Application Questions.

hi,

       I used TPS65983B have some questions.

      What we are doing now is the middle DOCKING board, and the outside of the dotted line is the external device. Is there any problem in this design?

      What should be configured on TPS6598X's Application Custominzation Tool configuration software? There are many templates, I do not know which to choose, DFP or UFP or DRP?
      The function of DOCKING is to flush the tablet to the tablet computer, and the USB2.0 will communicate from the machine to the flat panel (host). USB2.0 does not need power supply from the machine, just      communicate.

    Hi Wu,

    Can you answer below question for us to understand your systems better:
    1. Is the tablet is supposed to come up as a USB device or a USB host?
    2. Are you looking to power the whole system from the tablet if the 12V adaptor is not connected?
    3. Do you want to support ACA dock feature as well?

    tablet is a USB device.

    12V always existence.
    3. Do you want to support ACA dock feature as well?
    As far as I know, docking's micro USB just use D+ & D- to connect USB2.0, USB2.0 device have external power supply.

    Hi Wu,

    In the situtation described above, you block diagram looks ok.

    Please use the TPS65983B Application Customizer Tool and use TPS65983B_HD3SS460_DFP_Full tempelate.

    You will need to modify the tempelate to suit your requirements.

    tablet is host.
    If tablet is the host, the setting still is the TPS65983B_HD3SS460_DFP_Full tempelate?

    I have some question need you confirm:
    Is the "TPS65983B_HD3SS460_DFP_Full tempelate" setting ok? Because the data role of the tablet is the host, it does not provide power to the USB DEVICE, but gets the charge from DOCKING.
    In addition, the USB2.0 D+/D- data line of the tablet is directly connected to the external USB Device,
    Doesn't pass through the Multiplexer inside the TPS65983B, is it possible? (my DOCKING has no Displayport, only the USB2.0 channel)

    Hi Wu,

    Since the tablet is a USB host, there needs to be some way for the tablet to toggle the VBUS of the device connected below it.

    You don't need to use the internal mux of TPS65983B.

    "TPS65983B_HD3SS460_DFP_Full tempelate" will work for you.

    How can I find the Application Customizer Tool to corresponding the TPS65983B?
    On TI's official website only find corresponding to TPS65982.
    Or what update file do I need download?

    You can request for TPS65983 Config tool from our website. This tool will work wil TPS65983B as well.
