TLK110: Issues at 10Mb?

Part Number: TLK110

Hi Team -

Posting this on customer behalf.

We have a router where we never get an IP address when set for 10Mb.  It does work at 100Mb with that router and works at both 10 and 100Mb with all other switches and routers we've tried.  The PHY reports the connection is good and does not have any errors but our processor never sees a connection in that particular setup.

Do you have any suggestions for what we should look at possibly in the software configuration? Do you know of any issues with the TLK110 at 10Mb?

Thank you,

Dan

  • Hi DGC,

We do not have an issue in 10M with the TLK110 that we are aware of. As the TLK110 operates with other switches and routers, this seems specific.

How is the 10M mode being set on the TLK110? Is 10M being forced in register 0x0 or is the 100M advertisement being removed in register 0x4?

    Best Regards,
  • Hi Rob -

We are doing both methods to set 10M. We set the Auto-negotiation to only 10M and also then tried disabling Auto-negotiation in register 0 and fix the speed at 10M. Both have the same effect, it looks like we can receive in from the LinkSys, but the LinkSys just does not link something about the message going to it. When using Auto-negotiation, everything looks good with this, the Auto-Neg Complete bit gets set and the right settings get set as far as I can tell.

    Thanks
  • Dan,

Does the LinkSys router indicate it has a 10M link when you make the connection as well? If so, this seems to be entirely an upper layer problem. I'd also probe the RX and TX data lines to see if you see activity. There should at least be an ARP message being sent back and forth.

As everything appears to check out at HW level, this is likely a switch/router setting in the LinkSys.

    Best Regards,
