TPS65986: How does TPS65986 set consumer only?

Part Number: TPS65986

Hi there,

I had some PD compliance test issue,on the one hand,  power role must be consumer only, and no matter how I tried modifying FW it's always "consumer/provider" showing in picture below.

And on the other hand, physical and protocol test fail as well, showing in picture below.

Attached is FW I'm used.

UFP nodatapower swap-Ver20180117.pjt

How should I modify setting?

Thanks,

Joshua

  • Hi Joshua,

I looked at your .PJT file and noticed you were using version 3.08 of the configuration tool. Can you download the latest version from TI.com (Version 3.10) We have had many ongoing bug fixes since 3.08.

Your configuration settings looked okay to me and should not require any changes after making a project with version 3.10 of the tool. Also, the latest version of the configuration tool contains a debug mode which contains more information on the PD chip during run time.

    Thank you,
    Eric
  • Hi Eric,

    Thank you for reply.
There has same problem, port type is consumer/provider, after downloaded the latest version and re-flashed FW have same problem.
Can you explain more specifically, how should I do to pass the PD compliance test.
I have no idea both of Phy and protocol.

    Joshua
  • Hi Joshua,

I noticed from your compliance failures that you did not update the Test ID's correctly. We have an application note on the TPS65986 product page that will help with adding all the correct fields for passing compliance: www.ti.com/.../slva892.pdf

    Thank you,
    Eric
