1. Can PD sink descriptor be updated dynamically from I2C command? I am looking for updating iManufacturer field.

2. The PD source should be able to read iManufacturer of connected sink device using I2C.

The above method will allow PD to connect to known device.

Hi Chandrashekhar,

You can update the manufacturer field using I2C. Are you asking about the USB Product ID in register 0x47? Please refer to the Technical Reference Manual to discover all of the registers present in the TPS65986. The TRM also covers which registers can be re-written during run-time:

Can we configure Manufacturer_Info Message for Sink device? The Source device should be able to read Manufacturer_Info Message?
Is this feature supported?

Hi Chandra,

You can configure Manufacturer_Info Message for either Sink or Source device. However, it may be difficult to read this message on the connected device. Instead, you may be able to use a User Alternate Mode or the PDIO Alternare Mode to communicate from one board to another.

Can Source read the Manufacturer_Info Message at the time of enumeration? (one time)
The alternate mode will not work for us.

Hi Chandra,

You can read the USB Vendor ID and USB Product ID along with any other information present in the RX Identity SOP and RX Identity SOP' registers (0x48 & 0x49). You can review these registers in the Host Interface Technical Reference Manual: www.ti.com/.../slvuan1a.pdf
