DS100DF410: use it for QSGMII

Part Number: DS100DF410
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS125DF410, DS110DF410

Hello,

I guess we could use this for QSGMII as well, or maybe you could recommend some other part.

In this design we have 12xQSGMII lines and 4x10.3125G

Could you give some instruction on reprogramming the DS100DF410 for QSGMII?

thank you,

  • The lower 5G rate may just need some CTLE compensation to open up the eye.  In that case the DS100DF410 could use the same programming technique as for a 1G ethernet signal could be used.

For 1GbE applications, it is required to bypass the CDR by setting the override bit 5 of register 0x09 to 1, and set the data mux bits [7:5] to 3'b000 of register 0x1E.

The DS110DF410 or DS125DF410 could also be used for QSGMII.  They have programmable CDRs which could retime the data as well.  This would give even better signal integrity.

    Regards,

    Lee
