DS80PCI402: Relation for priority the register and RATE pin setting

Guru 19645 points
Part Number: DS80PCI402

Please let me know about four points below for priority the register setting and RATE pin setting(Gen 1~3);

①RATE pin setting is more priority than register default setting, is it correct?

②Once register set by SMBus, is DS80PCI402 move according to not RATE pin but SMBus register setting?

③If above are correct, I think that setting priority is "Default setting < RATE pin setting < SMBus setting", is it correct?

④If DS80PCI402 setting is always used SMBus, is RATE pin setting anything OK? (VDD, GND, Floating, etc)

Best regards,

Satoshi

  • Hi Satoshi-san,

    1. Yes the RATE pin has a higher priority against the register defaults.

    2. In order to switch the priority and make SMBus > RATE pin the application must write the override bit in Register 0x08.  Then the SMBus setting will take priority.

    3. See #2

    4. If the plan is too use SMBus override to control RATE, I would recommend to set the configuration pin RATE = Float.
