TUSB320LAI: USB 2.0 Enumeration and power sink (UFP) - getting more than 100mA out of a USB port

In my design I have a TUSB320LAI that is configured as a UFP and used with a USB port solely for sinking power. On this port there is no USB communication implemented and the only signals I am connecting to is the CC and the VBUS. As far as I understand the TUSB320LAI is compatible with USB 2.0 ports right ? For USB 2.0 there are some host ports that will only provide 100mA until enumeration is established. Thus in my situation \ configuration how is this enumeration accomplished with the TUSB320LAI and will I be limited to 100mA for these types of Hosts ?

That is correct but only when using a Type-A to Type-C cable. If you are connecting your port to a compliant Type-C port, then per specification the source must provide VBUS after a successful CC detection.

Hi Shmuel,

As Diego mentioned if the device is connected to a Type-C port (compliant), the current profiles are 900mA (default), 1.5A(med) and 3A(high).

Do you know how strict host PCs are in general in providing the 500mA \ 900mA (without enumeration) in a standard Type A USB 2.0 port ?

It is going to be very important to us when implementing our USB Type-C port with the TUSB320LAI as we are expecting that we will have many customers who will plug this port into a standard PC Host USB Type-A USB 2.0 port and expect it to work !?
