PCA9548A: PCA9548A vs TCA9548A

Part Number: PCA9548A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA9548A,

I am reviewing a design that has the PCA9548A (specifically the PCA9548ARGER). I was already planning to use the TCA9548A in its place.

I looked at the main specs of the TCA9548A vs PCA9548A and, other than the lower operating VCC for the former, I could not find a significant difference between both.

So, I would like some advice on the differences between boths from hardware and software points of view, if any other than VCC.

Thank you in advance.

PS:  while looking at PCA9548A page ordering list I learned the PCA9548ARGER is NRND and the TCA9555RTWR is recommended as a replacement. It looks like a typo.

  • Hey Elder Costa,

The devices are very similar because our TCA line has minor improvements to the PCA line. In the PCA9548 you can see the device has a reset errata section 9.4.1.1 where in the TCA9548 this has been corrected. The TCA also uses newer processes which results in more cost competitive part than the PCA lines.
