TCA9544A: int pin must connected?

Part Number: TCA9544A

Hi Sirs,

As title, Should we must to connect TCA9544A INT Pin?

If not, could we use I2C to comment INT?

Thanks!!

  • Hey Shu,

"Should we must to connect TCA9544A INT Pin?"
-Typically you would attach this to a pull up resistor and connect it to an input of a processor. If you do not need to use the INT pin then you can leave it hanging without a pull up as this pin is an output (open drain) and this will not cause issues. (I am assuming you are talking about the INT output)

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Writing to the INT registers likely won't do anything.

INT0 to INT3 are connected to digital logic controlling gates of FETs which are not referenced and if left floating, you may conduct unwanted current if noise couples onto the INT pins. This could cause unknown behavior in the device and issues could arise. The datasheet also mentions these input pins need to be referenced to Vcc.

    Summary:
You should not leave INT0-INT3 floating but the output INT pin can remain floating.

    Thanks,
    -Bobby
