FPD-Link III Connectors & Cables

Hello,

I am in the process of identifying which FPD-Link III SerDes to use.  Our application requires the use of a slip-ring that is rated for 100BaseT, but it is not shielded. The slip-ring would be terminated with a non-impedance controlled connector such as the Samtec T1M connector instead of RJ45. The interconnect path would also consist of other connectors and cables/flex, but they will be rated for 100Ω controlled impedance. The image senor of interest is the OmniVision OV5640 (@ 30fps 1920 x 1080 threshold: 640 x 480)

Is it an absolute “no” to use such an interconnect (slip-ring mentioned and non-100Ω impedance connectors) or are there options as far as repeaters or running at lower data rates?

Are there any resources for modeling the interconnect path or design examples that cover interfacing with image sensors?

Thank you,

PJ
